A Quick Reflection of 2013

So it's the end of the year once again and, as with every ending, I feel compelled to reflect on certain aspects before I proceed to the new beginnings.  Whirlwind. 2013. That is what you are. The only word that pops into my head when I think about you. So much happened and it feels like it went too fast. I could not savor the moments. I could not indulge. All I could do was realize how much time I don't have and the fact I can't make more of it. Reminds me of something I wrote earlier this year:  Time is a universal currency and is the one thing in the world that everyone has. Some have more, some have less but the way each individual decides to spend their share of time is what sets us apart. Schedules, itineraries, timelines, they all keep us on track but it’s what is on those schedules, itineraries and timelines that show how we, individually, decide to spend our time. Our personal choices with time are truly what makes us each our own person.  I myself would

A "Disaster" of the use of the word.

dis·as·ter      [ dih- zas -ter ,   - zah -ster ]     Show IPA noun 1. a   calamitous   event,   especially   one   occurring   suddenly   and  causing   great   loss   of   life,   damage,   or   hardship,   as   a   flood, airplane   crash,   or   business   failure. I don't think there is anything at this moment that perplexes as much as when someone is using the word "disaster" in context that doesn't even remotely measure up to the word.  I currently work in a customer service based position for a shoe retailer. The other day a customer came into the store with clouds over her head, huffing about how what she purchased was not what she wanted and her experience was a complete "disaster". So I proceeded to listen and understand where she was coming from but I too realized I had something lo

Tick Tock...Tick Tock...

Lately there has been this quote/phrase coming up a lot. " Time is money," famously produced by Benjamin Franklin nonetheless, but I have to be honest: I discovered this phrase during my travels in Azeroth. World of Warcraft for those who have been saved.  "Time is money, friend," the Goblins in Booty Bay say when you close the chat box with them. First I thought it was cute, then annoying, then I found myself using it in RL (real life). For example, when talking to apologetic customers who were in a rush, I'd tell them, "Don't worry! Time is money!". Corny but I got a kick out of using it in relative  occurrences .  However, I felt that the phrase itself could be used in different ways other than business related.  An assignment in one of my classes was to write paper. The main purpose was to utilize the phrase...wait for it, wait for it...."TIME IS MONEY" (Yes it came up again in my life!) and discuss the significance of time managemen
